Transportation Services
Transportation Services for those 60 and older and with disabilities:
The transportation program is provided to the elderly (60 and over) and disabled citizens of Shawano County as a part of the Department of Transportation’s 85.21 Grant. Three programs are currently being offered: the Volunteer Driver Escort, Mini-bus service and taxi ticket discounts. Set bus routes, with some flexibility, are offered. The bus is wheelchair accessible.

Mini-bus Service:
Shawano County contracts with Menominee Department of Transit Services for bus service.
To reserve a seat on a bus route or for more specific route details, call:

The vehicles are wheelchair accessible, equipped with a lift and proper wheelchair securement. Preference is given to those over 60 and disabled. However, others may ride on a space-available basis.
Current set bus routes:
Monday and Wednesday: bus service to Shawano from the Western end of the county, $4.00 round trip fare.
Tuesday and Thursday: bus services to Shawano from the Eastern end of the county, $4.00 round trip fare.
Friday: Set City route between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., ride all you want for $1.00!
We make stops throughout Shawano and will try to accommodate to meet your needs.
Wednesday Shopping Trips
On the second Wednesday of the month, we sponsor a bus that goes to a variety of destinations for shopping outside of Shawano County. To reserve your spot on the bus and ensure a correct departure time and place, as they are subject to change, please call Menominee Transit at

We leave from the Shawano County Library in Shawano usually at 9:00 am. $10 fare if at least 5 ride. We can also vary our departure destination if arrangements are made prior with the Aging Supervisor at 715-526-4686.

Volunteers drive elderly (60 and over) and disabled individuals, who are able to get in and out of a vehicle on their own, to their out-of-town medical appointments. There is a $0.42-cent per mile co-pay for medical appointments. Non-medical rides are available at the current IRS mileage rate. Please contact the office a few days before your appointment to allow time for making arrangements with a volunteer driver.

We are always in need of volunteer drivers and even if you can only help us one day a month, we would LOVE to have you drive for us.

Purchase Reduced Fare Taxi Tickets (must be 60+ years old or disabled) for use with City Cab in Shawano from City Hall. 10 rides for $20.00. Call City Cab at 715-524-2000 to reserve your ride.
