HIGHWAY AND PARKS COMMITTEE


June 1, 2010

Others present: Commissioner Grant Bystol; Keith Marquardt, Parks Manager; Frank Pascarella, Administrative Coordinator; Tim Reed, Planning; Ron Schumacher, Historical Society and Priscilla Zahn, Lead Accounting Technician.

Location & Time: Shawano County Highway Department, 3035 E Richmond St, Shawano WI 54166 8:00 AM

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wnek at 8:00 AM.

A motion was made by Knaak and seconded by Letter to approve the minutes from May 18th as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

A motion was made by Letter and seconded by Noffke to deviate if necessary. Motion carried 5-0.

There were no public comments.

The location of the Train Depot at Heritage Park was discussed. A motion was made by Letter and seconded by Giese to approve location A and to forward to County Board. Motion carried 5-0.

Parks Manager report: 87 people for breakfast; revenue up approximately $19,000; weekend was packed and boat wash has gotten good reviews.

A motion was made by Noffke and seconded by Knaak to go into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 (1)(i) to discuss Airport issues. Motion carried on roll call vote 5-0.

A motion was made by Noffke and seconded by Letter to come out of closed session. Motion carried on roll call vote 5-0. No action was taken.

The wayside property at STH 22 and STH 117 was discussed. A motion was made by Giese and seconded by Noffke to allow a wheel chair accessible asphalt trail approximately 45' x 6' to be placed at the Cecil Lion's expense and to send to Public Property. Motion carried 5-0.

Highway Commissioner report: blow outs on STH 29; DNR dike work; CTH G project almost finished; Vil Tigerton job; CTH E job; middle school track job.

Committee meeting dates: Wednesday June 16th; Tuesday July 6th; Tuesday July 20th; Tuesday August 3rd; Tuesday August 17th all at 8:00 AM.

There were no letters and communications.

The committee reviewed highway bills dated May 25th for $473,758.16. A motion was made by Letter and seconded by Noffke to approve bills as presented. Motion carried 5-0.

A motion was made by Letter and seconded by Giese to adjourn the meeting at 9:20 AM. Motion carried 5-0. Committee went to tour parks facilities. (No action will be taken during this tour.)
