Enforcement of support order

Enforcement is defined as the set of activities that a Child Support Agency uses to obtain non-custodial parentís compliance. State Statutes and Federal Regulations require that Child Support Agencies monitor cases by identifying cases that are paying child support/medical support as ordered, and identifying delinquent cases.

This is done by doing the following things:

  • Phone calls to the non-custodial parent.

  • Enforcement Warning Letter which asks the non-custodial parent to respond within 10 days.

  • Tax Intercept

  • Children First which helps the non-custodial parent find work in the field they usually work in.

  • Income Withholding which is sent to the employer to have the money taken right out of the payroll check.

  • Contempt of court which hangs a county jail sentence for not paying child support over the non-custodial parent's head.

  • Criminal Non-Support which hangs a prison sentence for not paying child support over the non-custodial parent's head.

  • File claim against Estates

  • Interstate Enforcement which has another state help if the non-custodial parent does not live in Wisconsin.
