We provide information and assist with applications for County Permits for land use, structures, shoreland permits, assist in assigning E-911 property address', process sanitary permits, issue sign permits, process applications for public hearing actions such as zone changes, conditional use permits and variances and assist state and federal agencies with their permitting when needed. In addition, this area also conducts onsite inspections, issues violation notices and coordinates all phases of public hearing actions for the County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee and the County Board of Adjustment.
Shawano County has jurisdiction in shoreland areas of all towns. (The shoreland area includes all areas within 1000ft of the ordinary high water mark of navigable lakes, ponds or flowages or within 300ft of the ordinary high water mark of navigable rivers or streams.)
In addition, the Shawano County Planning and Development Department has jurisdiction County-wide with the following Ordinances;
POWTS (Private On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Ordinance), Non-Metallic Mining Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance, Shoreland-Wetland Zoning Ordinance, Land Division Ordinance, 911 Uniform Property Numbering System Ordinance, and Citation Authority Ordinance.
