Water Quality

Well water test kits are available for free at the Health Department in the Shawano County Courthouse - main level. You can test for a number of things including: Nitrates, Bacteria, Flouride, and other metals. The Health Department recommends private wells be tested annually.

Water testing takes about 10 days to get results. You will be billed by the testing facility after the tests are completed. You may order sampling kits by calling (800) 442-4618.

Water Test Kit............No Charge

Fees may be waived if a pregnant woman or infant are drinking the well water.

Other tests are available through the WI State Lab of Hygiene.
