Kinship Care

The Kinship Care program is state-funded and allows for a monthly payment for adults caring for their relative children. This is a program that was created in tries to prevent child abuse and/or neglect by a parent. To be eligible for the Kinship Care program, the child must be residing with the applicant (without the parent in the same home), the applicant must be a relative to the child and the child must meet the Wisconsin Statues of a child in need of protective services. The relative caregiver must also complete a background check as well as a Kinship Care application provided by Shawano County Department of Human Services. The Kinship Care Coordinator can also assist the applicant with services to assist in caring for their relative child. For more information regarding the Kinship Care program please refer to the Kinship Care section on the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families website by going to the following web address http://dcf.wisconsin.gov/children/Kinship/INDEX.HTM.
