Mission Statement
The purpose of the Shawano County Clerk's Office is to perform services for the public that include conducting elections and issuing certain licenses. The office issues work permits, marriage licenses, state trail passes, hunting and fishing licenses, dog licenses, county boat landing permits, timber cutting notices, and temporary license plates for the Division of Motor Vehicles. The County Clerk acts as secretary to the County Board, administers Farmland Preservation Program applications, prepares and publishes the annual County directory and County Board proceedings book.
Description
The County Clerk is the legal custodian of public records of the County Board and any Committee, Commission, Board or Authority created by ordinance or resolution of the Board. The County Clerk assists all new and terminating employees with the enrollment forms and information regarding their fringe benefits (i.e., health insurance, life insurance, retirement, etc.).
This office is also in charge of the courthouse information which addresses incoming calls, directs the public to proper offices, answers numerous questions from the public, and reserves meeting rooms for various committees and organizations.
PAYMENT DROP BOX
In an effort to better serve its customers, the Shawano County has installed a drive-up payment drop box in the parking lot adjacent to the Courthouse. This will allow for after hour and weekend payments. Payments can be made on county property taxes and county fines. Payment must be in Check or Money Orders. (Do not use Cash) Payments should be marked with the Payers Name, Address, Phone Number and type of payment. Payment envelopes are available in the Clerk of Court office and the County Treasurer's office.

The County Clerk's office has the Shawano County Sesquicentennial (1853 - 2003) book for sale in their office at a cost of $15.00
The Sesquicentennial books will be mailed for an additional $3.50 to cover postage and handling. Send your check payable to the Shawano County Clerk in the amount of $18.50 to: Shawano County Clerk, 311 N. Main Street, Shawano, WI 54166.
